At GOCELO, sustainability and innovation are at the heart of our logistics operations. And our partner GOCELO Luxembourg has recently taken a significant step by introducing an electric vehicle into their fleet. To learn more about this exciting development, we spoke with Max Neumann from GOCELO Luxembourg.
❓Dear Max, can you tell us more about the new electric vehicle at GOCELO Luxembourg?
Max Neumann: The newest addition to our GOCELO Luxembourg fleet is a Mercedes eCitan, with a range of 150km to 200km and space for around one euro pallet in the back. Furthermore, the passenger seat can be folded away which extends the maximum avaialble length of an item to about 2.5 meters.
❓What motivated GOCELO Luxembourg to add this electric vehicle to your fleet?
Max Neumann: Our motivation to add this electric vehicle to our fleet stems from our commitment to sustainability and innovation. We aim to reduce our environmental impact and contribute to a greener future – a goal that is at the bottom of our heart as a family business. Additionally, the increasing demand for eco-friendly delivery options from our customers played a significant role in this decision. We want to be ready for customer demands and not only react on them. Consequently, we now want to gain some experience with electric vehicles within our day-to-day operation. Luxembourg and the “Greater Region” around is not yet as heavily impacted by restrictions as our colleagues in the Netherlands – But we are sure, something will also be implemented here at some point.
❓Can you share any challenges or successes you’ve experienced so far with the new electric vehicle?
Max Neumann: It is a bit too early to talk about challenges or successes as we have the vehicle only 2-3 weeks in our fleet. I will happily share any learnings as soon as we have made some more experience with it.
❓What are your plans for expanding the use of electric vehicles within your fleet at GOCELO Luxembourg, and do you have any future sustainability initiatives in mind?
Max Neumann: We will further drive our sustainability initiatives, as long as they make sense – Considering both ecological but also economical sustainability. For next year, we will add another fully electric vehicle to our GOCELO fleet: A delivery van with lifting plattform and a loading capacity comparable to a similar diesel vehicle. Stay tuned – We hope to share the pictures of this vehicle around Mai 2025.
